World War 2 era photos from the collection of Rifleman Frank Mus who served from the startup of the war and was wounded in Holland. To those interested in the regiment and those who served or their family and friends you may find a glimpse of those days so long ago. One family did. They found their relative on the formal shot on the Bren gun carrier. His name was Bob Gurney. He was shot by the Germans after capture shortly after D Day.

THE OLD SWIMMING HOLE
Never my grandmother's favorite, but the boy's were good swimmers. Perhaps a prankster shot the picture at the swimming hole where the lad's were skinny dipping. Frank jumped off the Toronto Island fairy after the war and saved a man drowning. He had to knock him out to avoid being pulled under himself. They had a level of camaraderie that made the service worthwhile. Their skills from their training a boon to all. Frank told me they had to jump off a ship with a full pack prior to D Day. They wanted you to bring everything back too. Frank said it was tough coming back to the surface. At one point he didn't think it was possible. He said they lost men in that exercise.
RIFLEMAN FRANK MUS REGINA RIFLES

His wife Mary Mus is on the left. She manned the home front with four children working to supplement a soldier's pay.
Tasked with a burden Frank carries his weight as he always did.

REGINA RIFLES ON PARADE
Regina Rifles all ready for action during training. Many gave their all. All gave for the many. May you rest in this place as a tribute to your service. These were your days.
QUEEN ELIZABETH AS A TROOPSHIP
WW2 postcard of the Queen Elizabeth used as a troopship in the war. Regina Rifles were transported home after the war aboard this Cunard liner. Neither the ship or the men should be forgotten for their service to King and country.
